[It's early in the morning-after a night of much boredom and little sleep- when Firo opens his journal.]

I've been wonderin': what kinda weapons do people use back where you guys come from? Where I live, people'll fight with anything from fists to tommy guns, but I figure everywhere's gotta have somethin' different.

[Action]

[Later that morning, Firo sets off running for the Battle Dome. He hasn't been too pleased with himself lately: he failed to be effective against the droids that attacked a few weeks ago, and then he couldn't even protect his friend from being mallynapped. Actually, ever since Ennis was kidnapped before his arrival in Luceti he's felt nagging feelings of uselessness. They've only been intensified by recent events.

He has to get stronger. The capos of his Family would be disappointed if they saw him like this. In the back of his mind Firo can practically hear Yaguruma berating him.

He spends most of the day at the Battle Dome, focusing on training until he's ready to drop (though feel free to interrupt him). Maybe trying to go so long without a break isn't a good idea, but that doesn't matter to Firo at this point. When nightfall comes, he wanders outside and slumps by the door, exhausted.

[Tommy guns? That phrase piques Willock's interest because he actually recognizes it--he did live through the thirties, after all. Could Firo be from some past version of his world?]

Depending on the person or species, there are a variety of ways to fight in my world. The beorc who use swords, axes, lances, bows and magic. And though the laguz use their fists on occasion, they are not as powerful as when they are in their forms, using their fangs, talons and fire breath to fight.

I can't say that I've heard of a tommy gun, it must be quite powerful if you only have those two means of fighting.

Tommy guns~ Whoowie, if those are what I think they are that's a classic right there. But, my world's got a similar story going on. In the streets from fists to knives to trashcans to pistols, but out in foreign warzones? Sky's the lim-- maaah, I shouldn't even say that. No limits.

Huh? Oh, that's not what I meant. It is pretty strong, but there's a lotta other stuff out there for people to use. That was just one example.

[He hesitates; all that information is a lot to take in.]

So... People breath fire in your world?

[He considers asking for an elaboration of that, but it's the stuff on the street he's more interested in.]

Trashcans? I don't think I've ever seen anybody use one of those in a fight except to throw somebody into it.

Not necessairly. Only those from the dragon tribe, those that transform into dragons are able to.

My Family uses knives. I'm fine without a weapon, too.

I know a man who can lift a full one over his head an throw it over fifteen meters into someone. Same for vending machines. He can also rip out streetlights, so he's a monster, really.

1952. [He chuckles--well, this is bizarre. It's not often that he encounters someone behind him in time.] How funny. I was ten years old in 1933.

Where I come from, there are all kinds of weapons, from handguns to nuclear bombs.

My weapon of choice is a sword baton - my Emperor's stick. It's a staff that comes apart into two short swords.

[This guy sounds older- and is older, if Firo bothers to do the math- and yet Firo's technically older...

You did. Laguz are able to transform based on their tribe. So, they are able to turn into beasts, birds, dragons and wolves.

1952? It's pretty good. There was a World War that ended in 1945 and the United States has troops fighting Communism over in Korea right now, but things are peaceful where I am in Michigan. The economy's recovered since your time, too.

Technologically speaking, we have a lot of great things. Like television, jet planes, and streptomycin--that's an antibiotic that can treat tuberculosis. [And yes, he finds that even cooler than TV and jets. It did save a ton of lives, after all.]

My grandmère gave it to me. I like it because it's versatile. There are all kinds of uses for it, even not as a weapon.

Do you have a certain weapon you use?

I think it depends on the person in my world. I use the sword, and we've got things like spears, staffs, knives, bows and arrows... Heh, I know someone who uses this giant doll to fight.

I have no idea what tommy guns are, honestly. But...where I am from, blasters are the most common form of projectile weapon. Other people use their fists, and others use vibroblades. I use a Lightsaber, but...thats not really a common weapon.

Well, Ninja can use just about every weapon they please - aside from firearms. But, most people usually use ninjutsu and a single weapon or two, or no weapon at all. A couple of ninja specialize in a variety of weaponry too.

Mostly medieval kinds of weapons; spear, sword, that kind of thing. [in the Vortex World, anyway. what do demons need guns for.] Only one guy I knew used guns, and even then he had a sword as tall as he was.
