immamartillo | 6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]

[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?

Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?

It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]

Ah-! Ow-! Shit!

[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]

What? Why isn't it-?

[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]

Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?

[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]

So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.

[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

Yeah... [He lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding.] Just hopin' this peace an' quiet holds up for a lil' bit. Been to a couple parties these last few weeks - they's always good at takin' y'mind off all the Malnosso crap. Maybe I'll see ya at the next one?

Yeah? Whose?

[He shrugs.]

Haven't been to many, actually. Maybe I'll check one out sometime.

[After a beat, he adds:]

But I bet my Family's are better.

Oh yeah?

[Asked more out of curiosity than to challenge Firo's claim, however playfully. He'd love to know more of his buddy's way of life and those important to him - because, hell, friends and family are important. And sharing memories is a way to preserve them and to maintain a connection with those one hasn't contact with.]

[There are few things Firo enjoys more than blabbing about his family.]

Oh yeah. I mean, Sena ain't always too pleased with what's goin' on, but once she's smacked some guys around a bit things are fine. And then Randy and Pezzo usually come up with somethin' neat to do. Usually with fire. It's sorta their thing.

[Blab away, my good man!]

Fire, huh?

[Sounds dangerous albeit pretty thrilling. He can't lie - he loves watching a good explosion in a film, but of course, in real life, people have to worry about things taking flame.]

...Like what? Stuff like fireworks?

[He chuckles.]

Oh no, no. We can't draw that much attention to ourselves. Stuff like lightin' gloves on fire.

[It sounds a lot less cool when he puts it like that.]

...It was really neat when it happened.

[Lighting gloves on fire. He doesn't really know what to think of that - it sounds painful, but that can't be right. This is why some demonstration is in order.]

Y'gonna have t'show me one a' these days, y'know.

What? No way I'm gonna do somethin' that crazy.

[He laughs.]

I think the trick is to use a leather glove so the oil or whatever doesn't soak through.

Huh. Know I ain't ever gonna try nothin' like that; if I mess up, I might get hurt real bad. An' me bein' a boxer an' all... I need m'hands t'be in good shape.

[He looks to them self-consciously, curling and flexing his fingers. The tendons in the back of his hand ripple tautly.

And that reminds him...]

How's the hand feelin' now? Any better?

True. Maybe I'll try it out for ya someday.

[Once he's back to his usual self.

He peers at his hand curiously- it doesn't hurt quite as much- and tries to imitate Mac's flexing.

He finishes about half the movement before he ducks away to hide his grimace of pain.]

Fine... I-it's fine.

['Dude, you're a terrible liar. :I No offense or nothin'.'

Rather than to immediately jump up with concern, he tries not to make a big deal out of it for Firo's sake.]

Best t'take it easy for a while, yeah? So y'hand heals up right.

It's not like it's gonna fall off... Fine.

[He sighs.]

I guess this means we'll hafta hold off on the hamburgers for a bit, huh? Might be kinda hard to make one-handed.

[Time to inject a little levity to keep mild disappointment at bay.] Well... I could do 'em an' then stuff it in y'mouth, no prob'm.

[Except for the part where he's never grilled meat before. Halp.]

[Firo laughs.]

Hey, I could probably eat fine on my own, just not cook.

Think ya could handle doin' the cookin' yourself?

Aw, hell no, I'd end up burnin' down the place.

Has that happened to you before?

Uh, not exactly... but had a few small fires, yeah. [Meek Mac is meek.]

So I don' really use the stove no more 'cept for eggs. I can make those okay but it's just easier usin' the microwave for stuff.

Geez... I guess I'll stand by with a bucket of water. And then once I'm all back to normal I'm gonna teach you how to minimize destruction while cookin'. Sound good?

[He has these horrible mental images of Mac being forced to choose between starvation and lighting his home on fire.]

[Oh God, that's terrible. Banish the thought!

Mac's face deepens in colour.]

Yeah. Deal.

[Wait, but what does Firo get out of this aside from not seeing his place go up in flames?]

[Some good karma, perhaps? He certainly needs it.]

I probably can't show you anything too fancy, but there's nothin' wrong with soup and stuff, is there?

[Ennis appreciates Firo's cooking. That's all that matters.]

No, nothin' at all. Know I really like stuff like chicken noodle or cream a' mushroom.

[Which he's known to come from cans, BUT STILL. Delicious, especially in the winter.]

You'd think so... [He lets out his breath, cracking a grin.] Nah. With you helpin' me out, think m'gonna do awright. Then I can invite ya over for some soup sometime.

[He laughs and smiles faintly.]

[Why teach somebody to cook if doing so doesn't get you free food?]
