6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]
[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?
Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?
It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]
Ah-! Ow-! Shit!
[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]
What? Why isn't it-?
[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]
Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?
[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]
So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.
[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

...Has that ever worked before?
[Action]
[Yep.]
[Action]
Okay, um... But I have a feelin' with most a' these guys it'd be a "can't teach an old dog new tricks" thing. They're just too used to not bein' nice.
[He doubts it would work on anyone, but he knows he'll never convince Grune of that.]
[Action]
That's not right. Everyone can learn to be nice. It just takes a little while if you haven't done it before, that's all.
[Action]
[Action]
[She has faith in you, Firo!]
[Action]
[And every day? Firo doesn't have the patience for that!]
[Action]
[That's totally the thing for a gangster to do, right?]
[Action]
[Except that does kind of describe Claire off the job, and he's one of the best assassins in Firo's world.]
[Action]
[What does that mean?]
[Action]
[Action]
Oh, I'm sure no one would do that if you were being kind to them. You would make them happy, not angry.
[Action]
[...She probably doesn't even know what a thug is, Firo.]
[Action]
Hmm....
[Action]
...Probably not. I know I haven't, and I meet 'em all the time. Some people are just hopeless. Or maybe they're just happy bein' angry. Nothin' I do can fix 'em, so why bother?
[It probably doesn't help that Firo himself is grumpy a lot on the job.]
[Action]
Why, because you should never, ever give up on anyone. No matter how long it takes, you should always keep trying.
[Action]
I can get that if it's a friend... But even people you don't like or barely know?
[Action]
[...With logic like that, it's a miracle Grune hasn't died yet.]
[Action]
[He's sure she'll say yes, but the idea worries him anyway.]
[Action]
[Yeaaaaaah.]
[Action]
[Realizing for once that he needs to consider his next words carefully, Firo bites his lip.]
...But if somebody attacked you, you would take care of 'em, right? I mean, you can't really be friends with anyone after that.
[Grune probably could, or at least she'd be the one person to try, and that's pretty concerning.]
[Action]
[Action]
Grune, listen. That's nice and all, but people like that... If they say they changed their minds they usually don't mean it. You can't trust 'em.
[Action]
Oh, no, I'm sure that's not true. Everyone can change if they really want to, no matter what. But you need to give them the chance to change. If you don't, they'll be sad because no one believes in them.
[Action]
[Says the kid who was adopted by a person he tried to rob.]
I just don't think you should put yourself in harm's way for people you don't even know. Tryin' to be friendly to people like that is a risk.
