7th Hat Flip [Voice/Action]
[Voice]
[After having a close friend return home a few weeks ago, Firo's been largely keeping to himself. He was aware of the danger of losing friends in Luceti, but it always seemed abstract and alien until it actually happened.
It's boredom that finally prompts him to address the network. That and the concern that if he doesn't keep using his skills he'll be near useless when he gets back home. Why not kill two birds with one stone?]
Does anybody here wanna play cards? Any kinda game is fine, or even if you just wanna learn. Most of 'em aren't that hard to pick up and I don't mind teachin' anyone.
[His tone suddenly becomes less light and takes a turn for the grouchier.]
But if you're gonna cheat, save it. I'll know.
[He wasn't put in charge of a Family casino for nothing.]
[Action]
[Soon after he makes his message, Firo will be rummaging through the item shop for a few packs of cards, carefully going through each one he finds to make sure they're complete. Then he'll linger a little while by the art supplies to pick up some markers.
...No, he is not going to be using them to mark the cards.]

[Action]!
Well, how much do you want?
[Action]!
[Action]!
[Oh boy.]
[Action]!
[Action]!
[If she can't win, shouldn't she help her friend?]
[Action]!
[Well, depending on their relative skill levels. He wonders if that might sound too cut throat for Grune.]
Um... What if they want you to play like that? It's more fun.
[Action]!
Oh, because it's part of the game?
[Action]!
Yeah, that's it! It's in the rules, so it's almost like you have to do it, too.
[Action]!
[And it's continuing to work!]
[Action]!
[He nods, even though he feels strange saying that.]
So you'll follow the rules and play to win, right?
[Action]!
[Action]!
So now that you've got that, wanna go through the hands? There's a lot. Like...
[He starts muttering their names under his breath and counting them off on his fingers.]
...Ten. I think. You think you'll be okay with all that?
[ooc: Sorry, I thought I'd replied to this!]
[Action]!
[Her tone is bright, but how much faith do you really have in her, Firo?]
[OOC: No worries. As you can see, I'm not exactly on top of things....]
[Action]!
[Against his better judgement--he never listens to that, anyway--Firo decides to forge ahead. He flips through the deck and pulls out five spades cards, numbered 3-7, and sets them in front of her.]
So I already showed you the royal flush... We'll go down from there. This is a straight flush, it's cards of the same suit all in a row. Like the royal flush, right? But not as good 'cause the cards are lower.
[Action]!
[Okay! She can remember that!]
[Action]!
[He's about to start on how having the high card doesn't matter if somebody else has a two of a kind, but stops himself. She's right in a lot of cases anyway and he's not confident he can explain it without being confusing.]
...Yeah. Aim for that and numbers that are the same or near each other. See, the next highest hand is gettin' four of a kind. It's best if they're all high.
[He goes back through and picks out the four tens, hoping it illustrates the point.]
[Action]!
[...Or something.]
[Action]!
[He studies the cards again, then laughs.]
What, 'cause they're all the same number?
[Action]!
[Action]!
[It's too cute to ever actually use when he's working in the casino or playing against someone, but he finds he likes to hear it put that way.]
There are other little "families" too. There's the three of a kind...
[He takes one of the cards away, pausing so she can see, then takes away a second one.]
...and the one pair. Those two aren't as good. In terms of poker hands, I mean.
[Action]!
Oh, why not?
[Action]!
[He probably should have addressed that earlier, since he's just been showing her "hands" as if they're only the five "significant" cards or fewer. He steps back and sighs, glancing at her sheepishly.]
...I've never really taught anybody about this before. Most of the people I work with already know how...
[Action]!
[Action]!
Really? You got all that?
