6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]

[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?

Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?

It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]

Ah-! Ow-! Shit!

[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]

What? Why isn't it-?

[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]

Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?

[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]

So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.

[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

[It takes him a moment to figure out what she might mean.]

'Cause they won't stay dead here?

[That must be pretty awful, to have the objects of your revenge so close and not be able to do anything.]

Yes. It's not fair. They should pay for what they've done! But... not here. I can't do it here.

Yeah... Seems like it'd be tough to wait until whenever you could find 'em back home. Unless-- there's nothin' stoppin' you back home, is there?

[It crosses Firo's mind very briefly that maybe he should say something to discourage revenge; his Luceti friends probably would do so. But it's her mom, and he's been taught since he was a child that the way of the world is an eye for an eye.]

[ She shakes her head. ]

We're going to have a duel back home. I got hurt before, so I was waiting until I got better. After that we were going to fight. But I came here instead. None of my friends are here, but all of them are. Even if they stayed dead I don't know if I can do it by myself.

[He knows it's none of his business, but the fact that it's a kid in trouble makes him want to at least think of some advice.

What would he do? March up to those people and stab them multiple times, probably. He decides to consider what Luck or Maiza would do, instead.]

Well... Yeah, it's probably impossible to take 'em out here, but you can still keep an eye on 'em, can't ya? You could find out their weaknesses and use it against 'em when you get home.

[Unless, of course, she loses her memories of Luceti.]

Oh. I guess so...

[ She was never one to think strategy. Arietta considered the suggestion for a few seconds. ]

How do I find out what their weakness is?

Oh, uh...

[And this is where Firo's brain fails him. He didn't think that far ahead.]

I guess... see what makes 'em let their guard down, or what distracts 'em?

So I should follow them around and watch them?

Yeah, if you can be sneaky about it. If they know what you're doin' you won't have the advantage anymore.

Why not?

[ A weakness is a weakness, right? ]

If they know that you know, then they'll know they gotta fix it, right? You won't have the advantage of surprise anymore.

Oh. I guess you're right.

[ She's quite for a few seconds again. ]

That sounds like it's a lot of work. But it's important, right?

I think so. It can't hurt your chances of takin' 'em out.

[He really hopes that this is good advice.]

How many of these guys are there, anyway?

Six. That's why I need my monster friends to fight them.

[Yikes. He's taken on several guys at once, but they weren't good fighters anyway. Six people who could kill monsters has got to be much tougher.]

And how many monster friends have ya got?

Lots of them. I know we can win. I just need to go home...

I hope so. Don't be cocky, okay?

[It's what people always tell him; it's easier to pass on the advice to others than for him to actually follow it.

He sighs.]

Yeah, I think we all do...

[ She shakes her head for emphasis.

She is not entirely sure what cocky is BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER, RIGHT. ]

Are your monster friends gonna duel too? How do monsters fight, anyway?

They fight with me. They're strong. They're used to hurting people to protect themselves.

...Sounds like a good skill to have.

[He's never heard such a blunt description of fighting as in that last sentence, but it makes sense.]

I hope it's enough for you guys to teach those bastards a lesson.

I hope so, too. [ She shakes her head. ] I know so! Because if I don't, no one is left to avenge Mommy. So I have to. I have to.

[He nods, though he does have to wonder where she'l go once her mission is completed.]

What are you gonna do after that's all done?

I'll keep following Van. He always knows what to do.

Is he another friend a' yours?

[It doesn't occur to him to caution her about relying too much on someone else's guidance; he's been following his Family without question for nearly a decade, after all.]
