6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]

[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?

Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?

It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]

Ah-! Ow-! Shit!

[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]

What? Why isn't it-?

[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]

Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?

[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]

So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.

[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

[He's not sure if he should believe her, but he just smiles and decides not to press the issue.]

Hey, do you recognize this area at all? Think we're gettin' close?

[And for once, she's probably right. The trees are thinning up ahead, and--is that part of a garden over there?]

[He tries not to sound too excited, but he is eager to get out of the woods. He squints as he tries to see farther ahead.]

Your place did have a garden, right?

Yes, it has a very nice one. Would you like to see it?

Sure. I don't think I've ever actually seen it before.

[From what little he's glimpsed, it looks impressive.]

Did you put it together all yourself?

Hmm.... Well, some of my friends help a little sometimes. [But mostly it's all her!]

That's still pretty amazin'. I've never tried anything like that.

No, there isn't space in my apartment for that, unless I put up window boxes.

[But that's too un-gangsterly.]

Oh, window boxes are a nice idea. You can grow lots of things in them.

[It's pretty obvious a lie, especially considering he doesn't even make eye contact while saying it. He figures it's okay since it's a nice one as far as fibs go.

It's just not really what most people'd expect from someone in my, um... profession.

[It may be an obvious lie to most people, but not Grune. She takes him completely at his word--and she looks absolutely delighted.

...Until he confuses her, at least.]

I mean, most people won't exactly be intimidated by you if they find out you go home and take care of flowers. No offense.

[He can attest that Grune herself is quite scary at times.]

But...it's good if people aren't intimidated by you. That way, you can make lots of friends.

[She is never going to understand this, no matter how he tries to explain it.]

Maybe sometimes, but it's sorta important to keep people in line while I'm workin'.

[That might be less of a problem if his job was legal.]

[It's a very strange thing think about. Why wouldn't someone give their job their all?]

[He shakes his head, feeling somewhat irritated just thinking about it. Most picciotto don't share his blind devotion to the Family and its responsibilities; their jobs are how they make money, not much more, and if they can get away with slacking off they will.]

I wish. It'd make my job a whole lot easier. And on top a' our people slackin' off there're customers who try to cheat and stuff.

Why would they do that?

[She probably won't understand that either, but he can't think of any other way to put it. He shrugs.]
