6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]

[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?

Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?

It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]

Ah-! Ow-! Shit!

[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]

What? Why isn't it-?

[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]

Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?

[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]

So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.

[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

Yes, that's right. The river is so pretty, so it should be very easy to find.

Um... Do you have any idea where it might be from here?

[How much do you want to bet it's a completely random direction that she's indicating?]

[She did seem to have some sort of forest-y knowledge last time they talked about the woods. Firo's tendency to not think makes that outweigh doubts brought on by her inability to find her own house.]

You think so? Is there some sorta trick to figurin' it out?

[There always seems to be, at least in storybooks. Too bad Firo never really bothered to pay attention.]

Oh, yes. I just keep walking until I'm home again!

[...]

You do..? But...

[Okay, maybe he shouldn't be trusting her to get them out of the woods.

He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.]

First thing when we get outta this place, I'm gettin' you a map.

Oh, thank you, Firo! That's very kind of you.

[She just loves getting presents!]

[He shakes his head; why's she happy about it? It's not exactly a good thing.]

N-no, I just don't want you gettin' lost. Didn't you hear that there's monsters and stuff out there?

[Which means they should probably try to find a way out. Since he doesn't have any better ideas, Firo takes a few steps in the direction Grune indicated.]

[Grune toddles along after him...slowly.]

Are there?

Well, I've never seen any myself, but somebody told me she tried to talk to 'em. Apparently they're not nice like the ones she knew back home.

[He glances back and slows his pace.]

Hmm.... Maybe they were just having a bad day.

A bad day? I didn't think monsters had stuff like that. That's the whole point of callin' 'em monsters, right? They're supposed to cause trouble all the time.

[He shrugs, struggling to appear nonchalant. The idea of running into monsters or large animals has him on guard.]

Not that I've ever really met one. Well, ones that weren't people, anyway. Have you?

[She misses what he means by his reference to human monsters--although she's known a few in her time, as well.

Instead, she answers:] Oh, yes. I've met lots and lots.

Really?

[He wonders if she's actually met monsters who were just having bad days, or if that statement is just her usual Grune-ness.]

What were they like?

They were all very nice. [She smiles cheerfully.

Feel free to accuse her of lying--her friends on the Legacy certainly have!]

[Yeah, he's a bit skeptical.]

Are you sure about that..? They didn't try and attack you or anything?

Oh, no. They were nice and friendly.

[They just played a bit too rough, that's all.]

Yeah? What did they look like?

[Maybe she got them mixed up with normal animals?]

Well, some of them were a little tall. And some were very pretty! They were all so interesting.

[Grune: Queen of the Specific. Or something.]

I see...

[No, he doesn't, but he figures it's probably useless to ask for more details.]

And these guys are just all over the place where you live?

[He really hopes not. Though the thought of Grune actively seeking out monsters wherever they might hide is almost as scary.]

Yes, that's right. There are all sorts of different kinds everywhere.

[She's totally putting his mind at rest, isn't she?]

Everywhere..? You're kiddin' me, right? That... That'd be dangerous!

Oh, it's all right. It isn't dangerous at all.

[Provided you can cast high-level spells whenever you feel like it, anyway.]

No offense or anything, but I find that kinda hard to believe. All the monsters I've heard about seem pretty damn dangerous. Like dragons and all that.

[Monsters are just made up (probably) in his world, but he's assuming the monsters in other worlds are just as bad as the fictional ones.]
