6th Hat Flip [Accidental Video/Action]

[Somewhere in Luceti, Firo's draped over a tree branch, asleep and freshly returned from his mallynapping. He looks a little worse for the wear, but he's out of the woods (figuratively) now, isn't he?

Unfortunately, gravity's not going to give him a break today, and as soon as he shifts in his sleep Firo goes tumbling to the ground. How's that for a wake up call?

It's not far of a fall, but Firo's incredibly ungraceful landing doesn't do him any favors. There's a crunching sound as he hits the ground, twisted around so that he lands on his left hand.]

Ah-! Ow-! Shit!

[Firo stays lying like that for a moment: both in the process of waking up and cursing everything from the malnosso to the tree- whatever he can blame for this situation. Then, with some reluctance, he rolls onto his side and stares at his hand with a mixture of pain and consternation. Unlike what he's become used to over the past few years, it stays stubbornly broken. His eyes widen. This is not how it's supposed to work...]

What? Why isn't it-?

[He tries to flex his fingers and winces; it's then that he catches a glimpse of his journal lying open nearby. Great. Of course it had to show off one of his less dignified moments.]

Damnit... Are you kiddin' me?

[Sighing and gritting his teeth against the pain, he pulls himself into a sitting position. Arms crossed over his chest, he takes a deep breath and tries to recover some aplomb.]

So... Guess I'm back. Screw this place.

[ooc: Firo's back from being mallynapped and is now going to be without his immortality for a while. After a few weeks it'll return to its normal Luceti dampened state.]

[Grune closes her journal and heads out. As always, she gets distracted along the way--but not by too much. Knowing that one of her friends is hurt focuses her quite well.

When she sees Firo, she'll actually pick up the pace to something quite fast, given her normal drift through life.]

Here. Let me see your hand.

[Firo's aimlessly pacing a circle when Grune comes into view. He starts toward, vaguely surprised to find that she's moving with more haste than he is.]

Hey.

[Moving more slowly and hesitantly than he normally does, he holds out his injured hand.]

Um, here. I dunno why it's not fixin' itself like normal. Anyway, thanks again for this.

[As gently as she can, she takes it in hers. Soon, Nala's light begins glowing from her hands.]

Well, when you hurt yourself, you need lots of rest to get better, not just a few minutes.

[Yeah, she...doesn't remember a thing from when she had her memories.]

You don't-?

[He should have expected that she wouldn't remember now that she's her usual self. And now that he can't prove that he's immortal if asked, it's probably best if he just goes with the flow.]

Uh, right. Of course. Silly me.

[If that's the case, then she wouldn't remember that he's seen her magic. So should he pretend it's the first time he's seen that? It's not too difficult; Firo's still genuinely impressed by it.]

Wow. That's pretty amazin'!

[It's probably not a good idea, but he tries moving his fingers slightly.]

[Grune sees nothing wrong with his totally convincing acting. Ironically enough, if he claimed to be immortal, she'd believe him without proof.

She does look mildly alarmed when he moves his hand, though.]

Oh, be careful. I'm not quite done yet.

[She won't consider herself done until he's completely healed, either.]

[At about the same time she points that out to him, the pain from the movement hits. Firo just needs to find things out the hard way. He is glad to note, however, that it hurts a lot less than it did before.]

Y-yeah. It already feels better, though!

[He is going to do his best to keep still for the rest of this.]

That's good. [She looks up long enough to smile, then goes back to healing.] Soon you'll be feeling all better.

[Provided she has enough stamina, anyway. Unfortunately, though, Grune is the sort to heal until she drops....]

Really? You're amazin'!

[...Oh, geez. Why, Grune, why..?

While they're standing here, Firo decides he might as well spit his apology out.]

Um, hey. I wanna apologize for a few weeks ago. You know, back when I was a kid again.

[Well, she doesn't know, but Firo doesn't know that.]

[Because she can't just leave her friends when they're still hurt!! Yeah.

At his apology, Grune gives him a confused look.]

When you were a kid again?

...You don't remember? I tried to steal your purse in the bakery. And I think I called you weird.

[He probably shouldn't have said anything.]

[Grune frowns a little, thinking back. She doesn't remember anyone trying to steal her purse--she's positive no one in Luceti would do something like that.]

Were you playing a game?

Uh... no? That's just... kinda what I did back then.

[He really wishes he could kick his younger self right now. Stealing from Grune of all people?]

Listen, I-I didn't know it was you. Well, I mean, I didn't really know you anymore. If that makes sense.

Oh. [She stops healing out of sheer confusion.] Didn't you?

Yeah... I really thought I was a kid again, for some reason.

[He feels that he deserves far less than what Grune's done for him, so Firo withdraws his hand when she stops healing.]

[Which leads to Grune reaching out to take his hand back. She's not finished yet--he's still hurt.

She doesn't really get what he's talking about, but she knows one thing:] That must have been a lot of fun!

[Firo's too stunned to resist when she reaches out. Whatever reaction he expected, it wasn't that.]

Wha-? Fun?

[And she's back to healing.]

Yes, that's right. You could run around and play all day!

[Grune has a very G-rated understanding of childhood. Like, well, everything else.]

[If only it was that enjoyable. After spending his whole childhood waiting to grow up, Firo was not pleased to be a kid again.]

That's not really-

[Wait, she didn't say anything about him trying to steal, did she?]

Hang on. So... you're not mad?

[That confusion? Yeah, it's back again.]

Why would I be mad?

Because I tried to rob you!

[How to put that in Grune terms...]

I mean, that's not very nice, is it?

You did?

[Grune thinks back--but no, she can't remember anyone trying to rob her. Especially not Firo.]

Yeah, I just told you, didn't I?

[He's tempted to tell her to just forget the whole thing, but he'd feel bad if he didn't get in a proper apology.]

I wouldn't have done it if I knew who you were or where I was, but like I said, I didn't really remember anything. I know that's not an excuse...

[Even if she can't remember what happened, Firo seems upset, and so she smiles and gently pets his hand (which should be most of the way healed at this point).]

It's all right. If you were trying to steal from me, you must have a good reason.

[It doesn't hurt at all anymore, so he'll just be trying to take that back now to avoid the possibility of another harrowing hand-holding experience.]

Well, maybe, I guess...

[Recalling the conversation they had soon after the incident, he's pretty sure he won't be able to convince her otherwise.]

But, yeah, I'm never gonna do anything like that again, okay? I'm sorry.

[Unless the Malnosso mess him up again, which is quite possible, but he doesn't want to consider that.]

[This time, she'll let him take his hand back.

She still doesn't really understand why he's apologizing, but it seems to be important to him. And so she says:] It's all right. I know you won't, and I'm not upset. So you shouldn't worry, okay?
